Asuke Hachimangu Shrine Autumn Festival

A colorful festival to mark Autumn in Asuke!

One of the busiest seasons in the Asuke neighborhood of Toyota city is the autumn festival which kicks off in style, with beautiful floats parading through the streets near the Asuke Hachimangu Shrine, showcasing the dancing youngsters on board.
The festival also features Matchlock musketeers displaying real gunpowder shooting sessions and demonstrations of the ancient artistic martial dance of “Bonote”.
The festival cars are incredibly fantastic and epic because they are decorated with beautiful lanterns.

It has been held every year since 1700.
Back then it lasted 5 days, but now it lasts 2 days (every year on the second Saturday and Sunday of the month).

Saturday

  • 14:00 – Procession (Purification ritual)
  • 18:00 – Procedures back to the Sanctuary

  • 8:00 – Departure of the floats (Tamachi)
  • 10:00 – Departure to the sanctuary – Rituals at the sanctuary
