Brazilian university student arrested for illegally accessing bank account and stealing ¥6.8 million in Japan.

The person arrested was Victor Mochizuki Pacheco, a 21-year-old Brazilian university student in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture.

According to police, Victor is suspected of illegally accessing an internet bank account on behalf of someone else in May last year and illegally transferred 6.8 million yen and converted the money into cryptocurrencies.

Victor gained unauthorized access through bank accounts by sending emails that allowed him to access information contained on victims’ smartphones. The transferred money was replaced by Bitcoin, at the time of the arrest, he had 140 million yen in crypto assets.

According to the investigation, Victor admits to the allegations.
