Confirmed Swine Fever at Iga City Farm in Mie Prefecture

Swine fever, called swine cholera, was confirmed at a pig farm in the city of Iga on the 29th.

On the 28th, 20 pigs died and nine had fever at a pig farm in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, and the prefecture decided to euthanize 6,600 pigs from this farm.

On the 29th, provincial and national tests confirmed swine fever, all tested positive for newborn pigs before vaccination.

In Mie Prefecture, this is the second time that the case of swine fever has occurred, last July about 4,200 pigs were killed in the city of Inabe.
