Himawari – Sunflower

Sunflower (ひまわり) is part of the wonderful colors in Japan.

The Sunflower flower means happiness, joy, energy and symbolizes hope and recovery in Japan.

And its yellow color or the orange tones of the petals symbolize warmth, loyalty, enthusiasm and vitality, reflecting the positive energy of the sun.

The sunflower is an annual plant native to North America that produces large, sun-like flowers from its sharply raised stems. It is approximately 30 cm in diameter and can reach up to 3 meters in height, in Japan the flowering season runs from late July to late August.

All parts of the flower are used. Its seeds, stems and leaves are often used as medicine. Sunflower seed oil is an edible oil, the seed is also used to feed birds and livestock. In Brazil, the seed is used in the production of biodiesel.
