Festival Tomoegawa Kingyo Hanabi – Toyota City

The Tomoegawa Fireworks Festival is held annually in August (Saturday) on the bank of the Tomoegawa River in Matsudaira Ward, Toyota City, Aichi-ken.

The Tomoegawa Festival is a Matsudaira neighborhood tradition that began around 1955.

In addition to the Tomoegawa parade, there are other attractions, including performances by dance groups, odori, karate and others, and what could not be missing are the traditional food and drink stalls.

And at the end, an impressive display of fireworks (Hanabi) on the Tomoegawa River, as well as hand-pipe fireworks (Tezutsu), and the most anticipated of the festival, the Kingyo Hanabi fireworks (goldfish fireworks).

And the Taiko Group from the Matsudaira neighborhood performs on the Tomoegawa River during the interval of the Fireworks.

Note: In case of bad weather or rising river water levels, the festival will be postponed to another day.
