Iranian arrested for attempted smuggling of canned soup with stimulants

35-year-old Iranian citizen Abedi Shams Abadi Mesam (アベディ・シャムスアバディ・メイサ―ム) was arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department on suspicion of violating the Stimulant Control Act for smuggling 5.6 kg of canned soup dissolved in stimulants from Turkey by air cargo.

Abedi is suspected of trying to smuggle stimulants in 12 cans of Iranian vegetables in January. The canned food was found in a cardboard box along with sweets and coffee during a customs inspection at Narita airport, it was confirmed that Abedi received the canned food in an apartment in Nakano-ku, Tokyo.

The suspect was arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department on suspicion of violating the Stimulant Drug Control Act on the 21st.
