Kasuisai Doll Festival

The Kasuisai Hina Matsuri Festival (Festival of Dolls) is held every year at Kasuisai Temple in Shizuoka Prefecture, Fukuroi City.

At this Hina doll festival, you can enjoy a wide variety as it is considered one of the biggest Hina doll festivals in Japan.

The festival features around 1.200 hina dolls displayed on 32 steps in the large Zuiryukaku hall, a large number of dolls reaching close to the ceiling. In addition to common hina dolls, rare hina ornaments, kasafuku umbrellas, sarubobo and others.

The dolls in the large hall are placed in such a way that visitors can fully see each of their faces. Many people are moved not only by the number of dolls, but by the beauty of well-groomed dolls.

Hina Matsuri

Hina Matsuri (doll festival) is girls’ day in Japan. Girls Day takes place on March 3, as a traditional Japanese event where they pray for the healthy growth and happiness of girls. As the day of the festival approaches, families with young girls decorate their homes with festival dolls, usually called Odairi-sama and Ohina-sama (Emperor and Empress dolls).

Note: There are several paid parking lots on site, but the temple parking lot is free and is at the end (at the back), passing all the paid parking lots.
