Koijigahama Beach
Koijigahama Beach (恋路ヶ浜) is a beautiful curved beach that stretches for about 1 km from Cape Irago Lighthouse to Hiji Stone Gate, where we can hear the sound of waves crashing, facing the Pacific Ocean. Located on Atsumi Peninsula, Tahara City, Aichi.
Sanctuary of Love

Irago Lighthouse
The old Cape Irago Lighthouse (伊良湖岬灯台) is considered one of the symbols of the city of Tahara, it was built in 1929. The Lighthouse was renovated and stood out as one of the main tourist attractions in the city. The lighthouse stands out with a wonderful view along with the sea and the blue sky.
It is worth waiting for the end of the afternoon and enjoying the breathtaking view of the sunset, a magical moment of the lighthouse with nature.
Hii’s Stone Gate
The Stone Gate of Hii (日出の石門 / Hii no Sekimon), has a hole in the middle due to erosion from the strong waves of the Pacific Ocean, making it a cave. There are two stone gates, which are called Oki no Ishimon and Kishi no Ishimon, you can see a magnificent silhouette at sunrise.

Legend
The beach is called Koijigahama because of the legend that a noble couple lived here and had an unfulfilled love.
Interestingly, the name itself comes from a legend that surrounds this place, a story that tells the story of a nobleman who fell in love with a peasant woman, an act forbidden in the midst of ancient customs. This caused him to be expelled and after wandering the land in despair he ended up in Koijigahama, where he swept away the loss of his love until his last days. A touching tale that adds even more to the magic of this place.
