Koijigahama Beach, Cape Irago Lighthouse, Shrine of Love and Hii Rock

Koijigahama Beach

Koijigahama Beach (恋路ヶ浜) is a beautiful curved beach that stretches for about 1 km from Cape Irago Lighthouse to Hiji Stone Gate, where we can hear the sound of waves crashing, facing the Pacific Ocean. Located on Atsumi Peninsula, Tahara City, Aichi.

Sanctuary of Love

The shrine of lovers has a love bell and the famous place of the padlocks of happiness and also the place where the first clover was found, known as the meeting point of lovers, located on Koijigahama beach, next to Cape Irago Lighthouse.

A Romantic Setting in a sacred land for lovers, which was certified as a Nationally famous Shrine in July 2006. Koijigahama literally means Beach on the Path of Love. The name of this place can be found in written documents dating back to the Edo Period, which makes it truly worthy of its status as a Shrine of Love.

Some men bring their girlfriend here to make their marriage proposal, to be eternally happy with the blessing of the sanctuary of love, making it a very romantic proposal.

Many dating couples visit the sanctuary of love to make wishes for happiness or eternal love, putting a lock and closing it as a promise of eternal love. Or simply placing your order by lifting the 4-leaf clover stone.

Be sure to come visit, make your wish and swear eternal love.

Irago Lighthouse

The old Cape Irago Lighthouse (伊良湖岬灯台) is considered one of the symbols of the city of Tahara, it was built in 1929. The Lighthouse was renovated and stood out as one of the main tourist attractions in the city. The lighthouse stands out with a wonderful view along with the sea and the blue sky.

It is worth waiting for the end of the afternoon and enjoying the breathtaking view of the sunset, a magical moment of the lighthouse with nature.

Hii’s Stone Gate

The Stone Gate of Hii (日出の石門 / Hii no Sekimon), has a hole in the middle due to erosion from the strong waves of the Pacific Ocean, making it a cave. There are two stone gates, which are called Oki no Ishimon and Kishi no Ishimon, you can see a magnificent silhouette at sunrise.

Songs by Poet Kasuya Isomaru

These songs are by the local fisherman poet Kasuya Isomaru, who performed at the end of the Edo period. The charm of this place is described with a warm rhythm from a very familiar perspective.

Legend

The beach is called Koijigahama because of the legend that a noble couple lived here and had an unfulfilled love.

Interestingly, the name itself comes from a legend that surrounds this place, a story that tells the story of a nobleman who fell in love with a peasant woman, an act forbidden in the midst of ancient customs. This caused him to be expelled and after wandering the land in despair he ended up in Koijigahama, where he swept away the loss of his love until his last days. A touching tale that adds even more to the magic of this place.

Stores

In front of the beach, there are restaurants that serve seafood, choop, ice cream, pineapple on a stick, etc. A very good place to spend a wonderful weekend.
