Tourism

Makinohara City is home to two of Japan’s top swimming beaches, Shizunami Beach and Sagara Beach. In the summer, many swimmers visit the shallow, calm beaches every day. There are also surfing spots scattered around the city, attracting many surfers from both within and outside the prefecture.

Additionally, Mount Fuji Shizuoka Airport has a tourist observation deck where you can watch planes take off and land. If the weather is good, you can even see Mount Fuji and enjoy the rare sight of planes taking off with Mount Fuji in the background.
