Minister Kono officially announces that insurance cards will be abolished by the month of autumn 2024, will be incorporated into My Number cards.
Also, it will integrate the driver’s license by the end of 2024.
This happened today the 13th, when Prime Minister Kishida discussed the My Number card with digital minister Kono and with Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Kato and Minister of Interior and Communications Terada.
From May next year, some smartphones with “Android” basic software will be equipped with My Number card functions, allowing online administrative procedures and private companies to use My Number cards to verify identity. A paid electronic certificate service, but it will be free for three years.
For citizens, the card will help ease administrative procedures such as income tax returns, request for day care and online family allowance. On the other hand, like the administrative side, errors and identity spoofing can be avoided through fast and accurate identity verification, and it is expected to be effective in improving administrative processing efficiency and reducing costs.
