Built in 1964, Higashi Okazaki Park is famous in the Aichi region. An excellent place for a family outing and to appreciate animals and nature, you can feed various animals for just 100 yen and take photos with dinosaur replicas.
Inside the park there is a mini zoo, Higashi Park Zoo, which is a free public facility.
There are several lakes with fish and ducks where for 100 yen you can feed the fish, and in the main area of the zoo we can feed the elephant and deer with carrots, sweet potatoes, and other things.
The park also features a replica of a Tyrannosaurus Rex measuring 4.5 meters tall and 12 meters long, and a Brachiosaurus measuring 14 meters tall and 18 meters long.
In spring, thousands of people come to admire the cherry blossoms in the park. In summer, visitors praise the hydrangea and iris fields. In autumn, 1500 momiji trees put on a beautiful show.
Iris Flower Festival
Every year from June 1st to 20th, more than 10,000 irises of 120 species will be blooming in the park, and at dusk, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the iris flowers look incredible with the nighttime lighting.
