Wakayama-ken   和歌山県

Wakayama (和歌山県) is a province located in the Kansai region, west of the Kii Peninsula on the Kii Channel, connecting the Pacific Ocean and the Seto Inland Sea, opposite Tokushima Prefecture on the island of Shikoku and makes bordered by Osaka Prefecture to the north, Mie and Nara to the northeast.

Wakayama Prefecture has a population of 954,258, including about 7,169 foreign nationals, with 136 Brazilians, 185 Americans, 1,460 Chinese, 1,958 Koreans, 1,080 Vietnam, 734 Philippines, 459 Thai, 57 Nepal, 228 Indonesia, and others…

Wakayama Prefecture ranks first in the production of oranges in Japan. Having its own brand of oranges that have been produced for over 400 years, it is produced in Arida District and called Arida-Orange. In addition, Arida-Orange’s yield accounts for about 10 percent of Japanese domestic orange production.
