Fukuroi City
Fukuroi (袋井) is a Japanese city located in Shizuoka Prefecture, with a population of 88.518 inhabitants, including about 4.385 foreign citizens, being 104 Peruvians and 2.494 Brazilians, 12 Americans, 341 Philippines, 358 Chinese, 441 Vietnam, 79 Koreans, 153 Indonesia and others (data, prefecture).
Fukuroi has a mixed economy of agriculture and light industry such as electronics and automotive components. The region has an abundance of sprawling countryside and beautiful green tea plantations, and is blessed with a rich natural environment consisting of the Ohta, Haranoya and Enshu Rapids rivers to the south.
Fukuroi City stretches about 15 km from east to west and about 17 km from north to south, covering an area of 108.33 square kilometers and is an extremely flat region.
As the city of Fukuroi is located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, its climate is typical of other Pacific coasts, with mild temperatures and heavy rains. September is the rainiest month. Temperatures are highest in August, reaching around 27.5°C, and the lowest in January at 5.7°C.

Fukuroi merged with the neighboring village of Kasai in 1928. It continued to grow and annex neighboring villages in 1948 with Kudonishi, Kudo in 1952, Imai in 1954, Mikawa in 1955, Tahara in 1956 and the village of Kasahara.
And in November 1958, Fukuroi was elevated to city status.
It was further expanded by the annexation of Yamanashi City in 1963 and Asaba City in April 2005.
