Suse Jaana Cave (嵩山蛇穴) is known as Mountain Serpent Cave (Japanese legend), an ancient cave dating back to over 10,000 BC, as relics have been found in excavations over 10,000 years old (10,000 BC) ), located in Toyohashi City, Aichi.
The cave entrance is narrow, only 1.3 meters high and about 3.5 meters wide, but the interior is large at about 70 meters deep. It’s a big and exciting cave to explore.
Excavation searches were carried out four times from 1945 to 1922, and remains were mostly found near the entrance. Excavated relics include Jomon pottery pressed on the front and back about 10,000 years ago, stamped pottery, earthenware and bone horns, and food scraps such as animal bones, fish bones and shells have also been found. In 1957, it was declared a National Historic Landmark.
Japanese Legend: It is said that the name “Jaana” was given because a large snake lived in olden times, and there is a legend that this cave leads to Zenkoji Temple in Nagano Prefecture, and there are reserves left in the cave to protect it. . There are also reports that there was a warrior.
