Tsushima City │ 津島市

Tsushima is a city located in Aichi Prefecture, with a population of 66,154 inhabitants, including about 2,084 foreign citizens, of which 220 are Brazilians, 234 Chinese, 136 Koreans, 365 Philippines, 12 Americans, 65 Indonesians, 61 Turkey and others.

 

Tsushima City was established in March 1947 as the ninth city in the prefecture. In January 1955, it merged with Kamimori Village, and in April 1956, it merged with the former Kamishimada District of Eiwa Village to form the current district. It prospered during the early modern and medieval periods as a temple town for Tsushima Shrine and as a port city that was an important economic and transportation hub.

 

The city has a long history and culture that has been carefully passed down, and you can find historical and cultural heritage sites such as the Owari Tsushima Tenno Festival, which has been held for nearly 600 years.

 

Tsushima City also has a lot of remaining nature, in particular the changing seasons in Tennogawa Park, which symbolizes the four seasons of Tsushima City, with cherry blossoms in spring, wisteria and water lilies in early summer, autumn leaves and snowy landscapes in winter, it is truly beautiful.

 

The city has a climate characterized by hot, humid summers and relatively mild winters, with the highest temperatures in August, around 32°C, and the lowest in January, around -2°C, with occasional snow.
