Wind Chime Festival

On the outskirts of Akiha Sohonden, at Hattasan Soneiji Temple, from May to August, the Wind Bell Festival (風鈴まつり) takes place in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka.

Festival is held every year for everyone to enjoy the new summer tradition and experience the traditional temple culture.

If you listen carefully, you will hear a faint sound of wind chimes before you even pass through the gate. As you climb the stairs, you can see the colorful wind chimes swaying in response to the wind.

Approximately 2,000 colorful wind chimes swing from the mountain gate to the main hall, when the wind blows, colorful bells dance and vibrate in the fresh wind.

Each Edo wind chime is handmade, so it is said that even if they have the same shape and pattern, they will make different sounds.
