Fujieda City is located in Shizuoka Prefecture, with a total area of ​​140.74 km². It has two of the fifty-three stations on the old Tokaido Highway (Fujieda-shuku and Okabe-shuku).

 

There is also the Utsunoya Pass, which extends from Shizuoka City to Fujieda City, and is also known as a tea-producing town, including Gyokuro.

In 1889, following the land registration reform of the early Meiji period, Fujieda-juku became Fujieda-cho in Shida-gun District. On April 16, 1889, Fujieda Station on the Tokaido Main Line opened, boosting the development of the area.

 

On March 31, 1954, Fujieda City merged with the neighboring town of Aoshima and four neighboring villages to form Fujieda City. Setoya Village was merged in February 1955, and Hirohata Village in April 1957. In January 2009, the neighboring town of Okabe was merged into Fujieda City.
