The large, bright ginkgo tree at Chorakuji Temple in Nakatsugawa City was designated a natural monument of Gifu Prefecture in 1962.

This beautiful and huge ginkgo tree is around 1100 years old, 28 meters tall and the thickest part of the trunk is more than 8 meters long. Its beautiful yellow leaves begin to fall in mid-November creating a stunning carpet.

At nightfall the lights come on and illuminate this majestic tree, making it even brighter.
