Green Day (Nature Day) Midori no Hi (みどりの日) Japanese national holiday, which takes place annually, is the third of 4 national holidays of Golden Week in Japan, celebrated on May 4th. A day in which the Japanese show all their appreciation and respect for the environment.

This date is celebrated with many activities close to nature, such as outdoor picnics, among the many activities, there are those involving the planting of trees and informative lectures on environmental issues.

Every year on this date, thousands of volunteers mobilize to plant trees, clean natural parks or participate in public campaigns on environmental protection. It is also aimed at increasing people’s awareness and love for Nature.

Green Day was actually celebrated on April 29th, in honor of the birth of the former emperor Showa, who was a great lover of plants and nature, and even published several works in the field of Plants and Marine Biology. .

But since 2006, this date has been moved to May 4th, as it was one of the days of Golden Week where there was no holiday.
