Susono City │ 裾野市

The city lies at the foot of three major volcanoes, including Mount Fuji, and the Kise River flows north-south between these mountain ranges, and the urban area spreads across the surrounding plains.

Susono received city status on January 1, 1971, and on December 2, 1995, it was declared a City of Healthy Culture, valuing the health of all and the interaction between people and nature.

The name Susono comes from Susono Station. When the JR Gotemba Line was still the Tokaido Main Line, it was called Sano Station, but since it overlapped with Sano Station in Tochigi Prefecture, it was renamed Susono Station in 1915.

It is said that the reason it became Susono Station is because it is located at the foot of Mt. Fuji.
