The Jurigi Kogen Observatory is a viewing platform located in Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Located at the top of a staircase at an altitude of 960 meters, the observation deck offers panoramic views that stretch for miles and is a great starting point for a hike.
It is one of the tourist spots from which you can see the mountain ranges of Mount Aitaka, the Southern Alps and Mount Fuji. The landscape is particularly beautiful during spring and autumn, making it popular with photography enthusiasts and hikers.
In autumn, the area is covered in silver grass and in winter we can enjoy the beautiful view of the clear blue sky with the peak of Mount Fuji covered in snow.
From the observation deck, you can see the low mountain ranges of the Tenshi Range and the Southern Alps to the left of Mount Fuji.
Next door is the Jurigi Kogen parking lot, a free parking lot equipped with restrooms that can also be used as a rest area.
The stairs are steep and a bit tiring, so you may choose to climb the slightly longer trail next to the parking lot.
