The city has an estimated population of 43,067 inhabitants, of which 2,770 are foreigners: 1,466 Brazilians, 523 Filipinos, 334 Vietnamese, 123 Chinese, 32 Sri Lankans, 14 Nepalese and others.
Makinohara is a coastal city located in the southern tip of Shizuoka Prefecture and is one of Japan’s main green tea producing regions, accounting for about 20% of Japan’s tea.
