Car factories restart recruiting temporary workers

Car production, which had fallen due to the spread of the new coronavirus, gives a sign of life. Automakers begin to resume recruiting temporary workers.

According to Toyota Motor Corporation, Aichi Prefecture’s Motomachi plant, which produces the main models, has resumed recruiting dozens of employees for the membership period next month.

Toyota has stopped recruiting temporary workers at 11 factories that make cars and parts since early February due to falling demand for cars. With the recovery of automobile production, recruitment at the factories resumed.

Honda’s Suzuka plant in Mie Prefecture and Nissan in Kanagawa Prefecture are also preparing for recruitment.

While automakers are returning to normal production systems, some production tweaks will continue into the next month, it is expected to take some time to return to the original level.
