Kawazu (河津 ) is a town located on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula, facing Sagami Bay, in the Kamo District of Shizuoka Prefecture.

 

In September 1958, Kawazu City was born from the merger of Kamikawazu Village and Shimokawazu Village, which had a population of 10.454.

 

Kawazu is a city full of attractions, beaches with the highest quality water and many tourist destinations with exuberant nature. The city is known as Kawazu Sakura for its variety of cherry blossoms. Parts of the city lie within the boundaries of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, which is known for a large number of hot springs and beautiful waterfalls, including the Seven Falls of Kawazu.

Kawazu City has several onsen facilities and visitors can enjoy taking a dip to the bottom of the sea, diving costs around 12.000 yen or you can take a complete diving course.

 

Kawazu has a climate characterized by hot, humid summers and relatively mild winters. September is the rainiest month. Temperatures are highest in August, reaching around 27°C, and the lowest in January with 7°C.
