Inuyama City │ 犬 山 市

Inuyama (犬 山 市) is a Japanese city located in the Province of Aichi, where the Kiso River flows into the Nobi Plain. With a population of 73.633, including about 5.263 foreign nationals and 210 Brazilians, 1.117 Chinese, 1.430 Hong Kong, 224 Korea, 11 Filipinos, 43 India, 415 Americans, 81 Canada, 11 Mexicans and others (prefecture data).

The city has a climate characterized by hot, humid summers and relatively mild winters. Temperatures are highest in August at around 27.6°C, and lowest in January at around 3.4°C. September is the wettest month.

With the establishment of the modern township system on October 1, 1889, Inuyama City was created. Inuyama Castle was designated as a national treasure in 1935 and again in 1952. Inuyama merged with four villages surrounding Inuyama City on April 1, 1954. In 2016, the Inuyama Festival was proclaimed a cultural heritage site.
