In the Asahi Ward in the city of Toyota-shi every year on August 15th, the Matsuri Asahi (Asahi Festival) takes place, which is the Fireworks Display (Oku-Yahagi Onsen) and the Komatoe Tenno Festival.
Komatoe Tenno Festival, as a traditional summer ritual, the drum beating (Hayashi) parade through the streets.
Oku-Yahagi Onsen Festival, the festival where the participant runs through the city carrying a large torch of about 2 meters (naked torch men), as he runs with only a loincloth (Fundoshisugata) to the Yahagi River to extinguish the torch fire.
And then a beautiful fireworks display, unique in that the surrounding mountains mean the fireworks cannot be launched too high to minimize the risk of fires. Furthermore, spectator seating cannot be too far from the launch area due to safety concerns. All of this contributes to an impressive proximity to the explosions, providing a thrilling and unforgettable experience!
