Mount Sanage – Toyota City

Mount Sanage is located between the cities of Toyota and Seto and is a mountain with an altitude of 629m. The Mount Sanage trail begins at Sanage Temple and passes by other temples, a watermill, and ancient religious sites. It is also possible to start the trail from Seto, but it is more overgrown.

The Toyota trail is well-marked with signs indicating the way and providing information such as: presence of bears, do not walk at night on the trails, and beware of bees. The trail is very peaceful and offers a beautiful view of the cities from atop two enormous rocks that serve as viewpoints. However, some sections are steep and require a bit of stamina.

The trail starts at an altitude of 139 meters, and the summit of Mount Sanage is at 629 meters. It’s not very high, but people use Mount Sanage for practice before climbing Mount Fuji.

A little past the halfway point on the way there, two rocks serve as a lookout point in a clearing where it’s possible to see the city of Toyota, and from the top there’s also a beautiful view of the city.

And that was a tip from Karen from the Toyota Community; it’s the Brazilian community in Japan participating and helping to create the best Japan Guide.

Our sincere thanks to Karen.
