The Nagoya Aquarium was opened in 1992, is located in the port area and is an all-day trip. The Nagoya Aquarium has around 500 species of marine creatures and a collection of 50,000 organisms. It is a very large aquarium with dolphins and belugas. There are two sections in the aquarium, the North Building presents the world of whales and the South Building has the theme “Journey to Antarctica”.

The North Building was opened to the public in 2001 with the theme ¨Intelligence gives Marine Animals¨, with a Dolphin Show. The Shows are presented in the 60m long, 30m wide and 12m deep pool. And each show is simultaneously shown on a high-definition screen in front of the stands. The North Building also has an installation where replicas and skeletons of whales and dolphins are on display.

The South Building, opened in 1992, visitors can learn about the various marine animals and environments that are found on a journey from Nagoya to Antarctica. The South Building presents organisms found by the Antarctic research ship (Fuji – built in 1965) which is permanently docked in Nagoya port, it has five different areas with different themes
